OPENING SCENE

QUEUE SAD SILENT NIGHT MUSIC

Laden with rain, the clouds attempt to empty their heavy load. The winds, spinning with an unhinged fury, whip from left to right.

As the heavens and oceans roar, the people—the islanders who call a sliver of land home—seek shelter. Holding friends and family close, they wonder if the mighty typhoon will be their end. After hours of hearing and seeing hell knock at their door, the wind and rain come to an agreement, sparing what lives are left.

Grateful for the storm’s mercy, they continue clutching their loved ones’ hands and step out into the unknown. And somehow, the agony of enduring the storm is but a small pang compared to what they see.

Their homes, where but a few hours ago carried laughter and joy, have been smashed with ease. Their food, cultivated with love and shared with humility, has been tossed into the wind without care. And their supplies, designed and restored with a brilliance not easily obtain, have been swallowed by the ocean.

And now, they must accept the fact that they have nothing but are in need of everything.
