Creating a Realistic Villain Readers Won’t Forget
Writing villains are one of the best parts of novel writing.
They surprise the hero and the readers. They have stories that matter. Simply put, they’re pretty darn fun to write. If you’re struggling to create villains, don’t worry. Today, I’m giving you 4 ways to create realistic villain readers won’t forget.
Before we get to those 4 ways, it’s best for you to keep in mind the importance of your villain. Sure, your novel is about the hero, but without the chaos brought on by the villain...there’d be no need for your hero.
Okay, let me give you some examples from both TV and Books.
Example #1 Nikita - TV
Without the evil government section called Division, there’d be no need for Nikita to come out of the woods and kick butt.
Example #2 Gone - Book Series
Without Cain coming down from his posh/rich school to take over the town, there’d be no need for Sam to overcome his shyness and become a superpowered leader.
Do you get the point? Heroes are important for a story, but Villains are crucial to a well-rounded story.
